I am from Stocksbridge but left there in 1967. I live now near Myrtle Beach in South Carolina.
As a boy, I would hike all over that area of Derbyshire and, in later years, often visited Strines for a pint and a meal with friends. Every time we have returned, we have visted the Strines Inn It always has been one of our favourites with many memories attached.
The last time we were there, I saw a photograph of the outline of the history of the Inn. I photographed it but it was unreadable due to flash on the glass. Is there a way to obtain a copy?
Also, over the bar is carved the date 1256 in the oak beam. I never knew whether this is the date when the Inn was built or has some other significance. Can you tell me please?
