Best rates for a Local Hotel

I'll say at the start that we didn't stay at this hotel, we went there for Sunday lunch. The offer outside the door was 2 courses for £10.95 so we thought we'd try it. When you go in it is not at all clear where you should go to eat. There is a few tables at the front where some people were eating, a visible dining room down a corridor which does not seem to have been updated since the 1970s, and a patio area out the back. I asked the bar manager behind the bar and his tone and abruptnous could not have been more rude. The menu for the offer is neatly tucked away and you have to ask for it, which I did and was told by the girl behind the bar that she thought t was 2 for £12.95. We got the menus and the price is £10.95, so we ordered our lunch together with 2 pints of soda + lime. However with the menu you can only sit in certain areas (i.e. not ouside), also if you sit inside you don't have to pay upfront but if you sit outside you do...aaaarrrrrrgggghhhh...are so many quirky rules necessary??? We were told to take a seat in the lobby as they got our tabel ready, although the dining room was only 1/3 full. When our table was ready the lady behind the bar grabbed the nearest couple to her and marched them in to the dining room. A few minutes audible confusion later and they were back out, and I had to shout over that the table was probably our. Lunch itself was OK, no more, although I must admist I have never been offered roast potatoes to go with a creamy mushroom pasta dish before. When we came to pay the bill I noticed that we had been charged £2.70 for each pint of soda + lime. By that time we had had 2 each. Now I don't often drink this but as I was driving and it was hot it seemed a good choice, however it normally is the cheapest drink you can buy - here it is the same as a pint of beer/larger. I queried this and was told that's the price. My advice, go to the pup up the road towards the entrance to Stoneyhurst college, the food and service is better and it has a nice atmostphere.
