Fantastic Stay!! Amazing Country House. The staff are extremely helpful and nothing is ever too much trouble!! Our room is cleaned daily to a very high standard and the breakfasts are amazing!! I would highly reccommed this place to anyone looking for a relaxing 5* break on the Isle of Wight. We stay at The Hermitage at least 3 times a year and have never been dissapointed and cannot fault it.

The building and grounds are lovely but alone do not warrant a five star rating. Holes in linen, dust, dirty carpet, chipped china on the tea tray, tiny en-suite, ants on breakfast table, plastic ketchup bottles, noisy night staff and noisy plumbing do not add up to five stars. You should not have to ask staff to vacuum your carpet in a five star hotel. You should not be awoken by staff after you have retired or by noisy plumbing at 6am.

My husband and I stayed at the hermitage for a weekend in February 2005. We live in Godshill only a couple of miles away but it felt like a million miles away from home. The service was 100% and the victorian room that we stayed in was beautiful. The attention to detail was excellent and I cannot recomend it highly enough. Thank you for giving us such an enjoyable weekend
