Having previously lived near the Cowherds and had lots of excellent meals I went back on the 6th. It was busy so we didnt mind waiting 50 mins for our starters which were good. We then waited and hour and a half for our main meal to arrive and when it did my girlfriends fish pie was still cold and raw. We decided not to wait for a new meal and left. All in all a shocking evening out and not to be repeated.

We used to go to the cowherds regularly, great food, nice drinks, friendly staff... BUT after not having been for a few months we went back tonight and were greeted by rude/rushed staff a barman who couldn't wait to get rid of us at the bar so he could talk to the girl behind us. A few of us ordered Sunday roasts which we were told they had run out of after we paid. The food we ordered in replacement was in the meats case overcooked, in the vegetables case undercooked and portions completely inadequate. Just to underline again the service was abysmal. I won't be going there again. Ever.

Having taken my Dad into the Cowherds for a Fathers Day meal I have to say i'll never go there again! The three members of staff we dealt with were so rude, one of them i'm sure was the manager who's attitude and tone left our whole party speechless. We ordered gammon, egg and chips and made a simple request for the gammon to be left off the plate as one person was vegetarian (another bad point for the pub is the woeful vegetarian options)and had two seperate staff members come over and very sternly tell us that it was an unreasonable request and that we should take the unwanted item off the plate ourselves - which is kind of missing the point of being vegetarian! As a whole, everyone was disappointed with the microwaved food which tasted of very little flavour.
