If you got room 14,12, you are in the miserable night. These are the rooms above the bar on the fist floor. The staff did not turn off music till 11 pm for 2 nights, third night they played music till 2am, just because we asked them to stop playing second time. We asked to turn off music at 12 am , they only did for 30 mins. The receptionist lost our room key on the third night. The food was over priced, we only ate there once. The bar drink price- so called happy hours are not advertised, it seems like only give the cheaper price to people they like. I was not informed of happy hours so I payed higher price for my wine. I should say, hospitality wise, this was the worst hotel I have ever stayed(and I stayed many hotels in my life since I was 15, all over the world). I felt totally miserable after the stay. I will never go back there again.

I liked the hotel setting in Blockley. All of the staff seemed friendly. I asked to have breafast early and the receptionist agreed. Unfortunately breakfast was not ready until 08:00 and I had to leave without any. The shower had only a trckle of water. The owner is someone to be avoided as I was charged a no show rate when I arrived home. My dealings with the hotel from then on was like a farce. I was lied to, that there had been a mistake and a refund was underway. Many many days later and I was still being mislead that the matter was being dealt with. I had to contact the credit card company in order to get the refund. Do NOT stay here.

We spent Mother's day Lunch at the Crown at Blockley and having lived in the village as a child it was great to feel like we were home again. There were 15 of us and the staff made sure we all had a great time.. I spoke to a couple of locals in the bar of which made us feel very welcome! The food was lovely although rather a lot on our plate. Not a problem for some. It had been 7 years since I had eaten in the Crown and I can't wait until we go again. The tables were laid beautifully and the Roses given to all Mums at the end just finished it all off. Thank You for making our family welcome and giving us a Mother's day lunch to remember. Regards Sally Johnson.

We booked a night at the Crown Hotel, £120.00 it cost us, as a chance for a romantic weekend without the children. I stay in corporate hotels regularly and I've got to say this was the worst value hotel I have ever stayed at. The room appeared as if it had not been decorated since the hotel was built, its was so small I couldn't swing a cat, the carpet was stained and dirty, there was no hot water, the bathroom was stained and falling apart, the springs in the bed were broken, we were right over the bar and I asked them to turn the music down which they did for ten whole minutes. I could go on and on it was so bad, but the most concerning thing, especially for a 14th century property was that they had blocked open all the fire break doors. The only good thing I can say about the place was the food, although overpriced and we were refused a glass of tap water even though we had just spent £75 on a meal for two. We spoke to the hotel manager regarding our concerns and were promised a phone call and refund after he had spoken to the owners, neither of which happened. Don't stay here, it was a very very poor hotel.

We enjoyed a good five nights in the peaceful town of Blockley. The tranquility of Blockley, the helpful smiling staff and the nice beer made our weekend just lovely. The bar is just downstairs with all the local color wanted, the people in Blockley are very charming and welcoming. We took part in a village fete on saturday to celebrate the new post office/shop/café. Lovely little shop with white wine in the cooler, perfect for a spur of the moment picnic on the hill. Blockley is much nicer than Broadway and Chipping camden and all the touristy places, only 20 minutes from all the gardens, like Snowshill and Hidcote and set on a serene valley. Nice woods at the end of the village for a little walk after breakfast as well. If you want a weekend of quite countryside and a place to read your books, this is the place. Our only regret is that the labs weren't there more often...

My wife and i had a wonderful weekend at The Crown.Purely by chance we had room 24,which i was told by the receptionist was the best in the hotel. It was clean & full of character with the old beams. We dined in the restaurant & the bar. Both were very good indeed. Our only critisism was at breakfast, there we no croissants or yogurt on either day.Not a big problem, but should have been available. The hotel staff were all very helpful & friendly. Would i recommend The Crown.........yes we both would,& will probably re visit with friends in the not too distant future.

We have just returned from a two night stay at the Crown Inn. We had a fantastic time. The staff were very helpful and looked after us brilliantly. The atmosphere was supurb. The locals were lovely; lots of fun and gave us a great welome. The menu and wine list was very good and the food was excellent. I would certainly recommend it and we're already planning a return trip.

Upon arriving at this wonderfull hotel, me and the wife thought we had landed up in heaven. Blockley is one of the most beautiful places i have ever seen in all my 67 years. The hotel itself could do with a little refurbishment, but the staff are all absolutley wonderful. Nothing was to much trouble for this kind, well mannered and friendly bunch. The bar seems to be the hotbed of activity for the village at the weekend, i couldnt believe how busy it was ! The barman was on the ball all night, what a bloody character !! All in all our stay at the crown was brilliant, we have even booked to go again in december. Go and try the place for yourself and i guarantee you will not be dissappointed.

We had stayed at the Crown Inn 10 years ago (our first romantic weekend away as a couple) and again c. 5 years ago and booked to visit once again. We had high expectations, which sadly were dashed. We saw two rooms - neither of which were clean and neither of which had mattress covers. In one room, the new owners could not open the window and it felt like a sauna. We left immediately as the excuse that it was in new ownership did not excuse these problems. After a discusssion, I was informed that they would waive their policy of charging for a night despite no prior cancellation. Sadly, they lied and I was charged in any case. I would not recommend this hotel now to anyone. Moreover, I stupidly left some clothes there and returned the following day to hear that it was not possible for the staff to access the room as they had lost the key. I was told I would be sent the clothes, but was not. Telephoning the hotel, I was told "you cannot prove you left your clothes here". Enough said...

I arrived at the Crown Hotel in Blockley with a party of 12 keen embroidery women from all over the USA. We were so happy during our 4 night stay that all of the women hope to return to this lovely small hotel. The menu is varied and our meals were served nicely. Heinrich and Jackie the manager and assistant could not be more professional or welcoming. We had great fun at the Crown and each of us wishes them well with their new endeavor. Kudos from "the Sewjourners" and Serendipity Tours. Lucinda Hathaway

This hotel has been taken over by new owners as of the beginning of June. It is still in the process of renovation, but we had a wonderful stay there in spite of that. The staff and managers couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. The menu for breakfast and dinner offers a wide selection and is very well cooked. I recommend it highly and look forward to going back as soon as possible for a longer stay.

After a very disappointing stay at the Crown inn Blockley, I cannot believe a hotel which is not at the cheaper end of the market for hotels can be so bad, starting with the restaurant, the first night we were the only guests and the food was certainly not up to standard and very little choice for a hotel of this standard and no fish on the menu and one choice for vegetarian, the breakfast was awful and just very basic, the room was stuffy and questionable if clean, and they certainly did not no how to make a bed, television did not have a remote, and a radiator that leaked water. As for the staff, cannot believe how abrupt and unhelpful and they need to be sent to charm school on how to deal with the public, and a waiter that speaks no english at all. Great shame as a wonderful setting but I will not be returning!

My husband & I have just returned from an overnight stay at The Crown Inn & Hotel in the beautiful village of Blockley.Three weeks ago this hostelrey was taken over by new owners and is now run by a meticulous manager & fabulous staff. We sampled the menu along the with many other diners and can only describe it as mouth wateringly delicious; combined with a great atmosphere provided by the locals whom we heard had not used this venue for sometime made our stay not only enjoyable but memorable. If this is what they have achieved in 3 weeks I urge anyone to visit in the future - as we intend to do ourselves. Congratulations & Thank You!

When I read the review posted on 1st of December I was pretty confident that I and my 3 friends were in for a treat to celebrate a birthday. Unfortunately the hotel is under new management and all I can say is that the food was disgusting. I promise I am not being overly fussy - this restaurant was a definite contender for Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares. All four of us felt the same way and we all felt queasy afterwards, you got the impression that not only did the chef not have a clue but that he probably had hygeine issues! the prices are very high about £18 for a main course. We opted for the £25 a head 3 course menu huge choice all of which tasted horrid. We left before dessert. Please, please do not go to this restaurant unless you like mushrooms swimming in garlic and split cream with greasy croutons, gristly steak well disguised with peppercorn sauce so salty it was unedible and your dessert to be from the freezer chests of Iceland! I know this because I clocked the next table order dessert only to half eat one, the other was taken away and wrapped in foil - all in sight of us and then put back into the fridge ready for the next sorry punter to come along. BAD BAD BAD!!

What can I say? This must be our fourth or fifth visit and it just keeps getting better!! Nothing is too much for the staff who always try to accomodate your every desire. The food is scrumptious and the wine sublime. Our first visit prompted me to propose to my now fiance, it is also where we will spend our honeymoon next year. Pure paradise...
