I stayed at Stanley House for the first time on the 21st of July 2006. Upon arrival i was very impressed with the appearance and decor of the hotel. When checking in i was told a charge of £270 would be placed on my debit card for 1 nights stay, but would be cancelled on leaving when the room rate of £170.00 was paid. I had an enjoyable nights stay but was disappointed when i went for breakfast and explained i was a vegetarian and did not eat eggs, the waitress failed to offer me any form of cooked breakfast and told me there was cereal on the help yourself style buffet !! On checking out i paid the £170 room charge and was assured the £270 would be cancelled. 10 days later the £270 was still on my account and had subsequently made me overdrawn on my account resulting in me incurring charges from my bank. I spoke to staff at Stanley House who initially were abrupt and unhelpful but then assured me i would receive a cheque for the charges i had incurred. 14 days on from my stay and 5 telephone calls to Stanley House and i still have not received the cheque i was promised for their error !! Bare this in mind if you plan to stay at Stanley House Blackburn.

I attended a Christening at Stanley House in the mist of a cold winter month. We were greeted by a wonderful warm welcome, the staff with the mulled wine and bag pipes the atmosphere and setting was fantastic. The Staff at Stanley House were very helpful they could not do enough, there were lots of small children who were catered for well and a lot of my close family were from Ireland they also commented about the exemplary hospitality. Our Party was quite large and we dined in the upstairs suite, this too was well set out and the food was fantastic. Lancashire Hot Pot with a tasty crust accompanied by red cabbage and pickles.(what more could one ask for) The Lamb was succulent and there was plenty of it. The Chef said that the produce was all locally sourced. Thankyou Stanley House for a memorable day, we will be back again soon there is absolutely no doubt.

I had my wedding at Stanley House on Saturday 10th December. I can honestly say that it was execptional. The service we received from our intial enquiry through all of our meeting to discuss the details to the way it was run on the day were amazing. The staff could not have been more helpful in meeting our demanding needs and last minute changes we had to make. The food was just amazing and was probably the best food I have ever had at a wedding and the presentation was that of a high class restaurant. The bedrooms we beautifully clean adn presented and the housekeeper went out of there way to help us move all of our luggage from the rooms we satyed in the night before the wedding. I have had nothing but good comments about the venue, service and food from all of my guests (a few of which have looked at the venue for their weddings). I would receommend Stanley House to anyone with out question.

The hotel is stunning and the location is beautiful. It's a shame the staff let this establishment down. My best friend has just held her wedding at Stanley House - the service, reception and night 'do' and I certainly would not recommend the place. The registrar, housekeeping staff and some of the bar staff were lovely but for the prices charged, the wedding co-ordinaters and higher level hotel staff should have been bending over backwards to keep the bride, groom and their family and guests happy. I'm sorry to say that this was not the case. The wedding co-ordinator might as well not have been there. The rest of her staff were sour faced and on occasion insolent and the bride and groom at times, were supervising the proceedings themselves. In summary - overpriced and badly staffed.

We initially booked our wedding a year before Stanley House was due to be complete, but were convinced it was going to be something special. I have attended a number of weddings in the past 3 or 4 years so know just how easy it is for a venue to look good only to be let down by poor staff, quality of food and accommodation. I have to say that Stanley House scores a perfect 100% in all areas, it simply doesn't get any better and I have a number of well known venues to compare to. The venue is exceptional with stunning design and attention to detail, the accommodation is the best I have stayed in. I had a look in all the bedrooms and can honestly say that any of them would be ideal as a honeymoon suite. I have stayed in The Lowry, the only 5 star hotel in Manchester and Stanley House beats it in all aspects. We had 90 people at the wedding breakfast and everybody I spoke to was blown away by the quality of all 3 courses and they all commented on how attentive the staff were. If you want the perfect wedding then look no further than STANLEY HOUSE!

Stanley House has it all, wonderful surroundings, great decoration and a first-class restaurant. This was our third visit to the hotel since December 2004 (A Christmas Party, One summer wedding and our most recent visit was to the restaurant). On the whole I would recommend the place for its charm and feel of luxury. Unfortunately, in our experience, the biggest let-down has been the service provided by its staff. On two occasions we were served drinks in dirty glasses, and on another we noted the staff were unable to deal with a straight-forward query. Whilst this has the makings of one of Lancashire's finest hotels / restaurants. Staffing lets it down at the moment.

I had my wedding day at Stanley House on the 27th of May and can honestly say that it was perfect in every way. Some of the other reviews describe the service as poor - this was not the case on my wedding day. Every minor detail was executed to perfection and the service all day was exceptional. Everybody who attended the day expressed what a wonderful venue Stanley House is. Although they catered for 80 people each and every meal was delicious, one member of the party was a chef and had commented on the high standards. I found the seperate accomodation to be exquisite and I have seen every room. To sum this place up I would say "AMAZING" Give it a go you will not be dissapointed, trust me.

The place itself is amazing and the meal we had was the best I have ever experienced. I have eaten at some top establishments but this blew our minds. Well done to the head chef - Warrick Dodds.

Stanley House has a first class restaurant with excellent views of the surrounding area, the rooms are luxurious and well appointed (though there was the smell of damp in one of the rooms occupied by one of my party). The service however left much to be desired, often slow with staff lacking initiative - particularly the reception and one of the managers I spoke to - Mr Wharton. I suspect there is a problem with recruitment and training - which if addressed will yield dividends. On the whole I would recommend the hotel to friends and family, but would warn them about the slow unimaginitive service.
