i recently stayed at the george in and was welcomed by a lovely young couple who had recently taken over the pub, they made me feel extremly welcome as i was staying on my own for business, the pub is undergoing a refurbishment which is making the building look in great shape, the rooms were clean tiday and very well stocked nice fluffy towels. i also had a meal in the traditional english resturant and the steaks are to die for with a peppercorn sauce, chips and mushrooms, starter a nice goats cheese ciabatta and for dessert an amazing homemade crumble what more good i want but i good sleep which i got. the pub gets very busy but dont let it put you off there very warm and welcoming or maybe thats the drink they are clearly all very happy and excited about what is happening at the george and i cant wait for a return visit. i wish to say thanks to steve and alexis for making my stay a most memorable one.

Great Thai restaurant at the George Inn - only opened a few months ago. Great value for money and very good food in a lovely historic setting.
