arrived at 6pm ordered drinks and meal 10 mins later...Had to wait 30 mins for 2 prawn coctails and a further 35 mins for Liver and Bacon dish and Chicken..Liver and Bacon was very good but the chicken was so dry my wife could not eat it..Was offered a refund of £4-45 which we accepted...We saw notice about having to wait a little when busy as it is cooked freshly etc but we were the only ones there until about 6-20pm then 2 more parties turned up so it was not at all busy... Found service awful, food nice apart from the chicken...We tried your pub as we are looking for somewhere where we can take a party of 15 but it certainly will NOT be at The Oak...Last time we dhall visit

When it's quiet it's good but when busy look out. Understaffing is the main problem with little forward planning for the busy time. Saddly the bar has become dominated by a TV which everyone passes to use the loo. Mind you I look forward to the beer festival. Recomend for quiet saturday afternoon drink or 3 after a walk around the wonderful country side. Especially in the super Garden.

This is a great family friendly pub with an excellent child safe fun large garden for the children to play whilst you can enjoy the fine fullers ales and lagers. The Sunday roast at £7.95 is great value with at least three different roasts on offer. The childrens menu is inexpensive and offers several fun sounding healthy options! THE PUDDINGS ARE WORTH SAVING ROOM FOR! The Landlord Chris is a friendly guy and has done much to support local groups and charities. The beer festival this year was a great success with live bands and 32 real ales and 10 ciders on offer. It also raised over £300 for The Chiltern Air Ambulance Trust. Every Monday evening from 7.30 a french Conversation Group meets here and every other monday from 8.30 there is a quiz evening. Every local star Alvin playing ELVIS comes to the pub. A great night out and a packed house is always expected. This is a great 500 year old English Pub and despite some of the previous negative comments is well worth a try.

My friends and I visited the Oak today for a reunion lunch. We spent a decent amount on drinks and then ordered food, there were 6 of us. we placed two orders under the numbers 23 and 37. Five minutes after ordering we were told our order would take 1 hour!!! usually resturants etc give you the waiting time before you part with your money. However 20 mins later our order arrived, well one order (23) but the other never came despite telling 3 different waitresses. When my friend went into ask what was happening he was accused of lying saying the ticket was stamped and we had had the food!!! What happened to the customer always being right. Not being fed is one thing but being called a liar is definately out of order. We will not be revisiting the Oak again.

Been to this pub many times, always had good food and good beer. Has changed hands now, food not as good. we visited today ordered food for 6 adults 2 children, after ordering the watress came and told us the food would be an hour. ok it would have been nice to be told when we ordered, one lot of food appeared 20 minuets later ?. 35 minuets more 2more meals another 10 minuets 1 childs food appeared. we then waited and waited, we called a watress over and asked about the food still to come, nother watress appeared and asked if we had finished we told her we were still waiting. she cleared are table, when she came back and told us we had had our food. One of our group went to see the manager and explain. The manager was adament that we had been given all our food, but was more interested in serving other customers. Only when he made a remark to another customer did the landlord give him his money back, still protesting that we'had our food. nice pub shame about the attitude of the staff and manager

We waited 3/4 of an hour for our food and when we enquired how much longer we were rudely told we were next but then had to wait another 15 mins to receive our food. When we placed our order we weren't told there was a delay on food. When the food came my "vegetarian" burger had become a charcoal overcooked MEAT burger and my boyfriends jacket potatoe was so burnt he couldn't even eat the skin. The staff were rude for the moment we entered especially a man I presumed to be the landlord, it lacked any kind of atmosphere and I would not recommend anyone ever going there. A total disaster of what we hoped a lovely sunday afternoon lunch in a pub.
