We had a terrible time here. Despite being on numerous cottage holidays in the southwest dealing with Huntstile was our first bad experience.
We'd booked the place as it was advertised as tranquil and with great views. However, we turned up to a building site with only view across a tip. Also, the noise levels certainly meant describing the place as peaceful were a bit off.
The 'garden' that serviced the property (next to the tip) was basically a quarry with hardcore covering the floor - completely unsuitable for our toddler. There were also various safety issues we had to record and pass on to trading standards.
It was all very disappointing given how long we'd been looking forward to it; the wife was even in tears.
The poor old builders apologised but they were only doing their jobs. The owners refused to contact us or even apologise for the misleading advertisement. I would advise treating them with caution or just steering clear of their 'business'.
I just hope businesses like this who think they can make a quick pound ripping off "townies" (as I believe they called us) don't ruin things for all the people in the southwest hospitality industry who do a great job.
Ps. The owners also refused to refund us and claimed they could of offered alternative accommodation but this came only after 10 calls to them, when they knew we’d left and it was on the Wednesday following our Saturday arrival.
