Visited for the third time since hotel was sold. First time we ate the food was very good but the barman could not pour a pint as there was a problem in the cellar which they had no idea how to fix. Ended up helping him and turned out there was no gas to the pump basic cellar management!! The second time was a nightmare resulting in my partner refusing to go there again until there is new management, who know how to run a hotel. Gave them the benefit of the doubt and visited with my daughters. Staff very inexperienced and far too young. Food appalling and inadequate.

Good Points: Friendly staff, helpful and open Bad Points: Several items in bathrooms not working (list given in at reception the following day) Early breakfast - 6 am Sunday not available and no discount given or continental service supplied. No acknowledgment of this by hotel even after I had raised it as a concern in the e mail booking General review: The staff shaded the experience into a positive one

Good Points: Beautiful views from our room over the abbey. Bad Points: Heating was a little temperamental, but fixed by the manager on request.

Arrived to be shown a small, dark room. It smelled of stale smoke and the carpet was filthy. Pulled back the sheets, it was hard to believe that they had been recently laundered,to find a heavily stained mattress. The state of the room was wholly acceptable at rate of approx £90 per night. We had driven over 200 miles to stay at this " newly refurbished and luxury hotel" and the manager did not even apologise or try to rectify the situation. What a disapppointment.
