We have just returned from a great weekend in Ballater. On Saturday night we dined at The Auld Kirk Restaurant in Braemar Road. We were welcomed into the bar by two very friendly waitresses and served very quickly with the drinks that we had choosen. The bar area was very busy and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Nice background music playing befitting to the surroundings of the restaurant which as the name suggests is an Auld Kirk. The food well what can I say. It was first class, excellent variety and choice on the menu. I particulary enjoyed my starter which was smoked haddock in filo pastry with a puddle of soup, mmm my mouth waters just thinking about it. This old church also has en suite accomodation which one of the waitresses kindly let me have a look at. Thw owners are at the moment refurbishing the rooms and I saw two that were finsihed. They were both lovely, very tastefully decorated and looked very comfortable. I know where we will be staying on our next visit to Ballater and cant wait to return to sample some more of the quality items on the Auld Kirks menu.
