I visited London Dungeon yesterday with my boyfriend my brother and my brothers girlfriend. we are all in our early 20s and fancied doing something a little different, as theres nothing to do now days apart from drink and go clubbing. So,,,, we booked tickets online and were able to queue jump which meant we didnt have to queue for ages like the other people who were queuing for tickets. Once your in you have the oppurtunity to have a picture with a executioner but this is really just to pass time while you are being organised into a group. You are then taken on the first part of the tour, i wont go into it too much because i dont want to spoil it for you, but the topics covered are The Plague, The Great Fire of London, Wicked Women, Jack the Ripper and a few more small topics. The dungeon itself is excellent there are real actors acting out situations from the olden days, they get you involved and you are able to ask them questions. You are made to feel involved as there are certain activities like the courtroom where members of the audience are asked to stand up in court. The boat ride is excellent you are escorted on board by a grim reaper like dark figure. its quite scary as you dont know what to expect, you dont get wet its just a ride round a extremely dark river with lots of gools and horror!! you have to pay attention to things, and if you dont like strobe lights then shut your eyes. After the boat ride things start to perk up a bit, the actors become a bit more 'talented' so to speak and they really make you feel like your back in the actual time of the event. Interactive sections are really enjoyable and they make you feel like your really there. You get sort of left at one point to look round a exhibition for a while, it seems boring but what they are doing is breaking the group up into smaller parts to enter the 'great fire of london' once you see it you wont mind about the wait. But can you escape the fire??? well if you want to get the great gift shop you better hope you can make it. At the end of the tour you are taken into the giftshop where there are lots of great spooky things to buy, quite highly priced but what do you expect. Theres also a cafe' the blood and guts cafe which we didnt actually stop in but it looked great all the same. did i mention photos are taken throughout the tour and you have the oppurtunity to buy them at the end? or you can buy mugs and t shirts with your photo on them. Over all it was a great day out, being in our early 20s we thought it may be a little too fake, but we really enjoyed it, we were in there over all for about 1 hour 45 minutes. we all really enjoyed it, oh and look out for the Real RATS!!! the tour guides are really informatve and all the actors are brilliant, look out for the lady ghost in the old church she sometimes sneaks out. A great day out for all the family. it was so sureal that sometimes we got really carried away and felt like we were there. I would recommend visiting !!! book online though so you dont have to wait you just go straight through.
