Not in a group of virtually the size of two football teams. thank goodness, just my wife and I had a glorious visit for dinner on Saturday. The atmosphere and ambiance of the hotel is warm and inviting with beautiful lighting everywhere, and the staff are professional and pleasant. The menu was full of choices we like and the cooking was excellent. The beautiful restaurant was full (mostly of couples staying for the night or weekend) making for a good atmosphere. We had forgotten what a lovely experience an evening at the Holbrook House is. It will not be long before we return. Thank-you to all concerned.

We visited Holbrook House for lunch as part of a group. First impressions were of a beautiful house and we were made to feel very welcome, however, as we ordered lunch there was some confusion because of a language barrier with the manager. My husband and I were all but last of a group of 21 to have our starters and when it came to the main course we were last and had to wait 10-15 mins longer than the rest of the group because of mix up with the ordering. When we recieved our meal it was not to the same standard as the rest of the group. How our meals could have been cooked fresh in that amount of time is questionable. Our meals were half the quantity of the rest, cold, tasteless and overcooked. Our food was clearly re-heated, especially the salmon, as it had becomed dry. The attitude of the duty manager was terse and unacceptable, both at the table and afterwards when we were discussing the bill. 2AA Rosettes.. I beg to differ..I doubt if the food critic was given the same standard of food we had.
