Visited Royal Oak with the intention of lunch in the bar area. Welcome board, from 'Ed and Kirsty' was positioned outside. The inside bar was quiet with the exception of a loud group of locals in the corner by the bar. Adjoining seating area in the next room was empty and not very inviting. Female bar person didn't welcome us as we approached the bar. We ordered two drinks and sat at the only available, reasonably sized, table by the window. No food menus were available at the bar. Eventually noticed a menu board on the wall by the bar - partly hidden by the people seated at the table. Only filled baguettes and sandwiches were available. We were not impressed with this limited choice for August bank holiday Monday.

I would like to thank you for all the many free cups of coffee I have had with my gold card, which I learnt is sadly ending in Ipswich. I will always have fond memories of your hospitality in Ipswich to gold card members. Thank you very much. Anne Steward (Mrs)
