Wow! What a shock to find such an exceptional restaurant in this part of the world (outside of a few country house hotels that is). The steaks were well prepared and juicy and everything else was good too. The restaurant is small enough to ensure good service. My family and I will be returning in December 2009 (my first return to Scotland from the USA since 2007). It is good to know that we have a good food oasis to return to!

It was my girlfriend's birthday, we went to Carlo's with her family for a meal. Well I can tell you if your looking for real food in a real establlishment then I would highly recommend Carlo's. The food was cooked to perfection, every dish prepared with the most care and love. Fantastic

I can say in all honesty Carlos resteraunt is the best resteraunt in Castle Douglas by a long way. The ambiance, service and quality of food are head and shoulders above any other resteraunt in Castle Douglas. ( Plumed horse has a menu more suited to gormet eaters but is 5 mile outside Castle Douglas and does not have same ambiance) We have eaten regularly in Carlos for last two years and have not had a single complaint. In addition we own a guest house in Castle Douglas (www.douglas-house.com )and reccommend our guests eat here, and they have without exception enjoyed their dining experiance. Because it is so popular we would strongly reccommend people book their table in advance.
