I have just read a review written by Janet Crow concerning her visit to the museuma and wanting to know more about her grandfather, Samuel Hullah and his family. I am very excited to read this, as Samuel Hullah married my grandmother's cousin, Bella Layfield and I have a photo of him in our family album. According to the Census returns he was married twice before and had a child called Frederick and later a daughter called Eleanor. I would love to give the photo to Janet Crow. I am very happy for tis review to be publish on your site, hoping that Janet will see it and also to have my email address passed on to her, if it will help. Best Wishes, Jenefer Mawhinney Jenefer Mawhinney

Dear Sir, I have been twice to the museum at Pateley Bridge and really enjoyed learning abut the local history, especially about the flax trade, which I knew little about. My great grandfather, Samuel Hullah, was born in Azerley or Mickley in about 1835. His son, also Samuel, my Grandfather, was born there, too, in 1863. He later moved to Leeds, to find work in a mill as a Flax Yarn Bundler, so I was pleased to see what I think was his sister's name, I think Anne, Hullah, on an old factory workers wage list on display. I will have to visit again to try to find more imformation about the mill and the family. Would i be allowed to photograph the list? Perhaps there is a Family History Society in Pately Bridge? I believe there are still Hullahs in the area. I feel it's so important that our history continues to be preserved in our local museums and researching Family History keeps the interest alive.
