Bancroft Mill Engine Museum gives a wonderful view of Victorian Lancashire's cotton industry. The engine is well presented and runs for most of the three and a half hours planned. The astmosphere is friendly, very acceptable refreshments are available and a local girls choir sang carols for this the final steaming of the year. There are many interesting photographic displays from years gone by and we watched a video telling the story of the mill and its demise with the rise of the musuem from the ashes. The whole atmosphere is one of competence with questions readily answered in a factual way. A second mill engine is being installed and the work can be viewed by visitors, a most interesting visit for anyone with an interest in steam or engineering from nearly a century ago.
