I , for one, always find it very hard to get enthusiastic about any kind of theme park in the UK and always need to remind myself that I am not there for my own personal benefit - its a day for the kids after all. As a family I do my best to steer my lot to other kinds of attractions but dipping your collective toes in the waters of 'organised fun' does no harm once in a while. And so on a hot July day we took Elias (6) Jonas (3) and Isla (18months) to Peppa Pig World in Hampshire. As a first (but not last) piece of annoyance they parked us on a huge gravel pit making the task of pushing the push-chair incredibly difficult. Not sure who the vast half empty tarmac car park was reserved for (visiting royalty or olympics officials perhaps?) Anyway, 2 little ones were free, £61.00 for the other three. Quite standard though not as lumpy as some for sure. This guarantees entry in to everything ‘Pig’ related and the rest of the Park and so for a days ‘entertainment’ not too bad at all really. The Peppa Pig bit has about 12 things to go on including an indoor soft play area so beloved of todays children (slides, balls, huge leather clad foam triangles etc) but with the heat and 100’s of little bottoms blowing off with impunity an endurance test for the discerning adult. The rides themselves are tame as you would expect for an attraction aiming itself at under 5’s but if I told you that in 3 1/2 hours we only managed to ride on 4 of them (with none taking more than 3 minutes to complete) you will begin to understand the 2nd irritation. Long queues are bad enough at any time but with 3 small impatient children in tow are nothing short of a nightmare. These attractions have got to get over this somehow. I realise that they need to pack the place out to make money but they urgently need to introduce a time slot system (like at disneyland in paris) as it just isnt acceptable to spend 40 minutes waiting for a ride that finishes so quickly. Rant over – the rides themselves went down will with my 3 as did the appearance of Peppa & George (on the hour every hour) but we did only manage half of them and obviously there is not a hope of going on twice (which all mine wanted to do each time). To be fair some were less busy than others and some where waiting wasn’t necessary ( a splash/water jet section which mine loved – bring swim stuff) We didn’t make it around the rest of Paultons but close to PP World there are a few other rides (mini roller coaster, water slide and others that I cant really describe) that my 3 year old was tall enough for (though not my little girl). The Food/catering? Well obviously not good yet not as outrageously priced as some. No real point moaning about it, you are not there for the food (though an awful lot seemed to be) and can always take your own – plenty of picnic places My gut feeling is that this Park does offer value for money if you are able to make it around without the waits but I can tell you something for nothing – you wont want to hear the Peppa Pig theme tune for quite some time. As a rating what would I give it? Well my kids would give it a 10 and I reckon that is all that really matters
