The Rising Sun is an Inn, a pub with rooms in other words, although a nice one, there is no proper guests lounge for example. The bedroom was cozy/smallish and nicely furnished, and the building quite quaint. It has a lovely location, but the prices are on the high side for Exmoor, a bit overpriced and really not particularly good value for money. There is no car park and the nearest car parking is a walk away especially carrying luggage. The restaurant is good, the food was well presented and the service reasonable, but the bar was quite smokey. Lynmouth has a stunning coast, very beautiful Exmoor countryside making the area is well worth a visit atleast once a year.

Stayed here 5 years ago, but has changed hands, not for the better and for what you get the room seemed expensive. We stayed in January for one night. The rate of £130 for two B&B was about 30% higher than we usually pay in similar establishments in the Exmoor area. The reservation person offered us a sea view room at no extra charge as the hotel was not full, we turned out to be the only guests. The room was small, the bed was comfortable however the telephone wakeup service did not work. The bathroom was tiny, the shower would be a real problem for any big people, one slight irritation was a noisy fan. The seaview was of limited value, as we couldn't leave the curtains open at night because of the lights outside the front of the hotel. The bar and table service was adequate, but not particularly professional or enthusiastic. Breakfast was pleasant, although my husband was not impressed with the quality of the bacon or sausage. The cereal and fruit buffet was obviously downsized, I have stayed in more modest establishements that have presented a better offering despite our being the only guests. We found the Rising Sun overpriced for what was on offer and not particularly good value for money.
