Pluses; Very central to Salisbury. Minuses; Interesting selection of moulds on the ceilings, inadequate heating (none at all in the en-suite), stains on the bedding, no car parking, and no staff present in the mornings. To top it all the kitchen was closed for 'refurbishment' and so breakfast was served at another hotel 4-5 minutes walk away. By this time I had given up on the place and went to the MacDonalds round the corner instead! Interestingly I see from other reviews the kitchen was being 'refurbished' back in spring. Makes you wonder. In summary a dreadfull experiance that I will not repeat. I have stayed in a number of hotels in Salisbury recently that have provided excellent quality for the same money, but I will not be using the Retreat Inn again.

This hotel is centrally located to the town of Salisbury, there is no specific parking and NCP parking is extremely limited and expensive. The ambience of the bar and breakfast room is "nice". The bedroom was low in quality and although clean it had not been deep cleaned in a long while. The bed, advertised as a double, was in fact a double base with two single mattresses, the ridge down the middle was far from comfortable. Soap and shampoo were not provided and only one bath towel was available, another was arranged on request. The toilet seat was secured by only one of the hinges, curtains were well faded and dusty and did little to compliment the set of kitchen pans that had been strategically placed to catch the rain water that had obviously been leaking through the bay window roof. The wardrobe door handles would have been nice had they been a complete pair - they weren't. Most surprising of all was the constant harrassment from arrival until leaving by the manager for us to settle the bill before he had to dash off to his other job, I think he was afraid that his customers would do a runner regardless of him having our cc details. The limited staff in the hotel were unable to understand english although tried to their best. The toilets off the bar were disgraceful and dirty, the reception wall lights were connected by palstic block and touching should be avoided. Overall rating of this hotel 1 out of 10, would we ever go back? NO.
