Fardew golf course is good value 9 holes for £8 pay and play. A small cafe sells golf accessories. With 2 Par 5s it is a test for beginners and more skilled players alike, nice staff good atmosphere. over looking the beautiful wooded hillside across the Aire Valley we saw Roe deer roaming and many wild birds, we hired one of the buggies for the gentle slopes it took us 2 hours to go round. Super!

A brilliant night out with a good atmosphere, the food was fantastic a great selection of seafood for a great price. There is also a fantastic wine list. I will be back!

I work in Halifax and live in Leeds, and the contrast between the two couldn't be greater. Halifax feels like it's behind the times, provincial and old-fashioned. I rarely go into town as it's not too welcoming and although the scenery and history around this old industrial town is interesting I wouldn't want to live there!

i went to the on the rock hotel 27+28th of jan it had just opened, on arrival i was greeted by a warm friendly receptionist i was directed to a table by the waiting staff. i had a 3 course meal i had the chilled trio of melon for my starter followed by salmon and prawn fishcake finally i had the sticky toffee pudding. the food was outstandingly delicous.the overall service from start to finsh was excellent. i am returning on valentines day i will re port back my view. i would recomend u book now. it has come far from what it used to be.

i visited the rock hotel, it had just opened i stayed in room 22 which was an executive suite, it was very comfortable, the decor was to a high standard and to my amazement they provided towelling bath robes and slippers. On my stay i had the luxury of using their sauna, which was free of charge. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. The food, the staff and the atmosphere was very warm and friendly.

My wife and I visited Haworth today and all its attractions. Its a quaint village BUT with a scorpian tail!!! We parked in the car park opposite the Wollen MIll which looked like a council car park ( but its not !!) We overpaid for a 2 hour period and unfortunatly like alot of people we were a little late back. When we returned to my car we found we were clamped and we had to pay £90 immediately or the car would be towed away and would then cost £450 to get it back. So wanting to get home on a cold wet november day I emptied my wallet and my wifes purse and paid up the £90 and got home. I wonder what would have happened if we could not have found the money...............
I wanted to ensure the legality so I rang the police when I got home to find a very sympathetic call center person who told me the clampers are in fact operating legally. Its a privetly owned car park but they are reputedly overly agressive in the way they clamp and the police have recieved many many complaints. Apparently it has been such a problem that the issue has even made the local TV news!!! However on researching it appears none of the local business are concerned at all, as it doesn't really affect them, however I for one beg to differ. Its OK for the local business people take visitor's cash but I wonder why they are not concerned about the overall experience of tourists. The council can remove the clampers licence, should their be enough local support for the process, but apparently there are few if any local complaints.
So I think people, vote with your feet and your wallet. My advice is, if you would like a pleasant, hassle free, clamping free day out in a lovely quaint village or town, go to Hebden Bridge instead. Its a lovely place with great pubs and resteurants. Plenty of council parking which is resaonably priced and reasonably policed. Or if you must go to Haworth always take an extra £90 (or soon to be £100 or maybe £120) to cover for unplanned extras!!!
To the business people of Haworth, visitors will stop coming if this doesnt change!!!

Enjoyed the parsonage and adjacent moors and pubs but don't go there. Over zealous parking officials and wheel clamping for pathetic reasons make it a place to avoid on balance

Love it. We shop here fortnightly because we love the whole atmosphere and the buzz. It's so lively and vibrant, the choice of shops and exclusive top fashion designer stores are superb. The independant boutiques that sit in the arcades are gorgeous. The Victoria Quarter is stunning it's hardly surprising it's named as the mini Nightsbridge Of The North with it's immaculately clean architecture and gleaming window displays. The cafes and restaurants are spotless and it's nice to be able to sit and enjoy a latte and dessert in pollution free precincts and arcades (unlike the odd towns). The shop staff we find are also always so happy to help and always give first class service. So down to earth and will always have a friendly chat with you. We also find them extremely good mannered and polite which is excellent. We love leeds it's the king of shopping in Yorkshire.

I was a stutent nurse in LEEDS from 1970 to 1973 i lived at ST JAMES HOSPITAL nurses home. LEEDS then was a depressing, grey city, but with warm . witty people, down to earth , kind, helpful. I loved my time there. and missed the city when i moved to SHEFFIELD.Iam hoping to return for a visit in september this year, as i believe its now alive with great shopping, good restaurants, and great theatres.I am looking forward to seeing the changes, and visiting all the places i remember from way back then.

first of all I was born in in lancaster, but i would class myself as an honourey yorkshire man, leeds is awsome i've lived in a few cities and drunk and been drunk in a lot more. There is no were else in britian ive felt more at home the people are so welcoming apart from the knobheads you get in every city but thats to be expected unfortunatley. Please drink a the blooming rose in beeson, it not the best decorated free inn but the managers are awesome and the beer is good but not cheap.

42 THE CALLS, LEEDS
From the minute we pulled up outside 42 The Calls we received outstanding service. Check-in was very efficient and we were offered a complimentary glass of wine as we checked in. Our bags were carried upstairs and we were shown how to use everything in the room.
We were meant to be heading into Leeds for the evening, but we chose to stay in and drink champagne in the wonderful surroundings, looking out over the River Aire. We ordered room service, which was not as expensive as we had originally expected, and was delivered via the hatch from the corridor.
Switchboard operators knew who we were without having to give our names or room number, the TV had our names programmed on it, and when we nipped out in the afternoon we were welcomed back into our room by a personalised letter & boxes of smarties.
Molton Brown toiletries, a King-size bed with Feather duvet, Plasma TV with wireless internet access and the excellent personalised service all made our stay one that will be remembered and talked about for many years!!
There were however a few little niggles, such as only one window could be opened, which would have been a problem had it been any warmer. A large spider had built himself a temporary home above the bathroom door, but who can blame him, he probably had the best room in Leeds!! Also when we ordered room service the garlic bread was still frozen, but a call to reception had it replaced promptly. In comparison to the rest of the stay these were very small problems and certainly would not put us off staying there again. In fact when we came home we booked to go back for New Years Eve!!

I grew up not far from Mytholmroyd in Midgley from the age of 11. I attended Calder valley high leaving at 15 yrs. I left in 1962 and have been living in Australia since January 1963. I have only been home twice, both timers I headed immediately for the Calder valley. There is no place like it anywhere in the world and I've seen quite a bit of the world. I wrote a poem which I called 'the white Yorkshire rose' it is about what Yorkshire mean to me and I'm sure every Yorkshire person, it has been set to music and was used as a eulogy for two of my brother's. I is my intension to revisit England in November 2009, if I am over my last operation for cancer in time. If I don't make it I know that it will still be there, the valley the moors and the spirit of the people of the vale!

Otley is a nice town with a lot of shops and pubs. if you want to go to a pub then go to the spite where Sue and Graham and all the helpful staff will give you a nice dinner or give you a nice beer and with local residents and not alot of rif raf you'll be sure to make friends with people within days!!!

Your details on Sowerby Bridge are very inaccurate
The Malt House Hotel is really a Pub and in Rishworth, Ripponden NOT Sowerby Bridge, also The Millbank Restaurant in in the village of Millbank. Triangle, NOT Sowerby Bridge.
We have one Hotel, The Tower House, in the Pye Nest area just below the famous landmark Wainhouse Tower.
We have some first class Restaurants, Chesters on Wharf Street, 12-04 in the Canal Basin, Gimbals on Wharf Street - all 1ST CLASS and popular.
Also Temujin, Mongolian Food at the Canal Basin
Our Town has some of the best Pubs with Real Ale in West Yorkshire, the famous Puzzle Hall, The Works and now the Jubilee Refreshment Rooms at the Station.
Also The Moorings at the Canal Basin and The Navigation on the Canal side provide a wide range of Ales and excellent food in historic buildings
The Historic Canal Basin is the home of Shire Cruisers, the first Canal Holiday Hire Company formed in West Yorkshire which brought tourism to Sowerby Bridge.
HRH The Prince of Wales visited the Canal Basin this year and inspected the restored Salt Warehouse and unveiled a Plaque on the William Andrew Memorial HQ for the 12th Halifax Sea Scouts
We have a new Open Market in the Town Centre and soon to be built a new Swimming Pool. Our Library was funded by Carnegie has a lot of local history books and information.
The HBOS Copley Data Centre is one of the biggest employers and situated on the Wakefield Road
Despite the busy A58 road through the Town, Sowerby Bridge is now emerging from the loss of its industrial past into a thriving centre for tourism with access to the beautiful Ryburn Valley with its historic villages of Ripponden, Rishworth, Barkisland, Millbank and Sowerby and from Soyland emigrated Joseph Kershaw the founder of Camden, South Carolina, USA.
Archbishop Tillotson was born at Haugh End on the outskirts of our Town
Sowerby Bridge has entered Yorkshire in Bloom for many years and this year the volunteers have tackled the Railway Station as their main project making it is very pleasant place to alight and visit our area

visited your city for the first time today,15/09/11.
I thought the shopping area was excellent and the Ridings really impressed,seemed a lot more friendly than meadowhall.
The highlight was the splendour of the cathedral,
both outside and inside,the windows are great.
will certainly visit again,even if it's only for the novelty of westgate station. It has trains that go somewhere!! I come from rotherham.
