Dumfries and Galloway Reports

Gatehouse of Fleet, Dumfries and Galloway

Review of Gatehouse of Fleet by Marie on August 10th, 2008
We stayed at The Ship Inn on 9-10 August 2008 and I cannot fault it at all. It was a lovely hotel and the staff were fantastic. They could not do enough for their guests, and they easily answered any questions and requests that we had. We also ate in the restaurant and the food was fantastic. Very fresh vegetables, local organic meats and the odd dish with a twist! The furnishing of our standard room was very modern and contemporary with neutral colours, flat screen TV, modern bathroom and Molten Brown products and lots water, coffee, tea, and fruit teas to choose from. The area of the Gatehouse of Fleet is especially nice to walk around at night. The main street has a lovely glow to it and it is great to walk by the river in the peace and quiet and watch the swans go by. The area has a good number of pubs, art galleries and shops and is close to the town of Kirkcudbright and only a short distance from Newton Stewart, Bladnoch Whisky Distillery, David Coulthard Museum and Cream O'Galloway Ice Cream Farm. 10 out of 10. A very welcoming hotel and a great area!
