Don't expect a warm welcome in Carrick Sports Club.
I was in Maybole with a group of friends last week and thought that we would support the Sports Club by having a couple of beers in it rather than the local pub as I know that clubs struggle. On entering we were greeted by a lovely barmaid who served us without any problem only to be told five minutes later by a pompous committee man to drink up and leave as we were not members (no offer to sign us in). There was one other person in the club at the time. We then crossed the road to the local bar and were greeted superbly by the hosts, spending around three to four hours with them (and lots of money). As members of a private club we thought we were helping a fellow club but we definitely won't be back and will be telling others to avoid it. What a sorry place!
