Borders Reports

Ashkirk, Borders

Review of Ashkirk by John on December 22nd, 2010
The Smiddy. Made welcome when first moved to the area by a genuine landlord. However, this morning we had the most horrid experiance with the partner of the landlord of the smiddy. Worst night of the winter, -17 and had to leave the car overnight on the car park to be greeted by an angry, aggressive lady who thought nothing about the four year old child present whilst she berated us for the use of their car park as our car was stuck in snow and ice and could not make it up the track home. Zero community spirit and a very nasty piece of work in my opinion. We will not step foot in the place again.

Eyemouth, Borders

Review of Eyemouth by lucy lewin on February 1st, 2011
visited Eyemouth on 30th Jan2011, and found it to be a dead and alive hole and believe me I have visited quite a few- but this town is on its uppers. I feel very sorry for the inhabitants, but the harbour had an oil/diesel spillage, the hotels, pubs, and shops were mostly shut and/or boarded up and even the much vaunted fish and chip shop , I felt was over priced. nought out of ten then!

Jedburgh, Borders

Review of Jedburgh by Jane Cumberland on October 10th, 2007
We stayed in a cottage in Jedburgh in May for 4 nights as a quiet getaway, and fell in love with the place. We're heading back for Christmas. The small town centre has a real community feel, the food was excellent, fresh salmon from the Tweed, washed down with a glass of local ale, great butcher, green-grocer, local pubs etc. We covered a few of the walks along Jed Water, and took the short drive to Floors Castle, Kelso for the races, and Melrose. You can feel the history of Jedburgh as the old buildings have been preserved, along with Mary Queen of Scots House and the Abbey & Jail. It was very relaxing.

Kelso, Borders

Review of Kelso by ISSABEL AND TOM on March 18th, 2010
shiv ji indian is by far the best Indian food in kelso(scottish borders) authentically Indian rather than Pakistani or Bangladeshi. We have eaten there a number of times and last time we took guests and they were also delighted .the food was immaculately presented. The menu is not typical of the run of the mill Indian Restaurants and has many new dishes like punjabi chicken curryand the malabar prawn curry.all was without any colouring ,like you will find in most of the indian restaurants. we would recommend this place to everybody. just give a try, they do takeaway service also.at last we all fetched the takeaway menu when we were leaving .
