Ambleside, Cumbria

Review of Ambleside by Andrea Smart on August 15th, 2007
I had the privilege of staying at the edge of Ambleside (just down the road from the Drunken Duck - which is a very nice eatery!) with my partner Andy in Spring 2006. We rented a wonderful cottage where a gorgeous view of sheep and lambs awaited us each morning from outside our bedroom window. Walking was wonderful, and was the main purpose of our trip. The weather was fabulous, and relaxation was just the ticket. Ambleside is definitely on our return list!

First came here on a coaching holiday in 1967. We stayed at the Salutation hotel. I well remember the boat trip on Windermere as far as Bowness. The little house over the river. This is a place that we return to on regular occasions. Recommend you do too.
