Warwickshire Reports

Alcester, Warwickshire

Review of Alcester by mr john noble on November 24th, 2009
just returned from visit to stratford and was apalled by being quoted health and safety"its the law"by numerous cafes, hotels, restaurants ets when we enquired if we could come in to eat/drink with our small well behaved dog, but congratulations to your bus operators and also to the people of moreton on march who see more sense..do not plan to visit stratford if you have a dog

As a venue for events, Arrow Mill is superb. The food is excellent and the staff (generally) helpful, the setting is beautiful with great views. The ground floor of the building has been very well restored and feels welcoming. Unfortunately, the room on the top floor (where we were placed) was absolutely attrocious. There is no lift (ergo no disabled access) so you have to lug your baggage up several flights of stairs, which for me was difficult, with having a heart condition, and when I saw the room I could have cried - it was probably the poorest hotel room I had seen anywhere - worse than some £25 a night B&B's I had stayed in. The furniture all looked tired, the bed felt ancient, the decor was poor and the bathroom - disgusting. The shower was filthy, covered in mildew and when placed at head height had no flow of water - you had to crouch down and use it hand held, and even then I could have passed water faster myself. All for the supposedly 'reduced' rate of £65 because we were attending a weekend function! Would I stay there again? Never!

Review of Edgehill by Barry on August 25th, 2006
One of the nicest pubs in all of UK is located on the top of Edgehill new landlords Tony and Susan are the nicest people food is great and the brew is not bad. I stayed there 4 nites in diffrent rooms due to last minute bookings stayed in Kings room Ruperts Room and Astleys room. View from gardens nice with a board with the histroy of the battle. Nice walks around the hill alittle steep but fun. I recommend this pub as a great place to stay and will visit it every time I return to the UK

Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire

Review of Stratford-upon-Avon by Linda Bullimore on April 15th, 2008
Restored my faith in the British Tourism industry - The Mercure Shakespear Hotel - superb location for walkabout in Stratford, incredibly gracious and courteous staff; top quality and excellence in decor - will recommend it every time. Fantastic! Stratford itself - beautifully quaint home of British culture and history oozing from every doorway. RSC theatre production of the best in entertainment and historic houses well managed and couriers exceptionally pleasant. Well done Stratford upon Avon - we've had a fabulous Shakesperience!

Tanworth-in-Arden, Warwickshire

Review of Tanworth-in-Arden by Gloria Elvidge on February 11th, 2009
Just to say I visited The Bell Inn in Tanworth in Arden last Sunday with twelve other friends and we had the most wonderful meals. Everything was cooked to perfection, the staff were very polite and the ambience great. We will definitely visit you again in the near future. Normally if there is a large crowd dining out, something goes wrong, either you are kept waiting for a considerable amount of time, the food is not up to standard or not good value for money. I cannot say that this was the case this time. Well done!

Warwick, Warwickshire

Review of Warwick by Victoria on July 18th, 2006
I recently spent a few days in Warwick and it is a lovely place to be, the Castle is a must see for anyone going there-it is absolutely beautiful and there is so much to do for adults and children. The people are so friendly and helpful, the town is very nice and there is a fair amount to look around-mostly old style shops you wouldn't find in any major city. I would definitely reccomend this place to people who want to relax or just get away for a few days.

Welford on Avon, Warwickshire

Review of Welford on Avon by Mrs.L.Tovey on March 23rd, 2011
Good Evening, Yesterday Tuesday 22nd March 2011,at midday, my friend and I came to the Four Alls for lunch. Unfortunately I feel I have to write and complain to yourselves, my friend ordered vegetable stirfry, which you kindly offered to do as it as temporarily off the menu, when it came it only consisted of three different peppers and some noodles. That was all. Some other veg i.e. mushrooms, onions, etc would have been nice. I ordered fish and chips, when it came, the fish was very burnt, (it should never have been brought out), I then had another fish which was more acceptable but very greasy. The chips and peas were not very warm, obviously no fresh ones were placed with the second fish. We do go out about once a fortnight or three weeks to various pubs for a lunch, you were highly recommended but we were very dissappointed at the standard of the food, it was'nt as if you were busy at that time. We will not be recommending you to anyone else. Please can you comment on this. You do have my e mail address. Thank you and look forward to hearing from you. Mrs. L.Tovey.
