Portballintrae, County Antrim

Review of Portballintrae by Gary Hendry on October 15th, 2006
4 of us decided to visit the Giants Causeway and chose Portballintrae as the place to stay. We stayed at the Bayview Hotel which has superb, spacious rooms with excellent facilities. The staff there couldn't have been nmore helpful and friendly and the quality of food was very good. An evening meal at Sweeneys turned out to be the most enjoyable, satisfying and quality meal I've had for a long while. In both locations the staff could not have been more accomodating & friendly. Portballintrae is a beautiful place to stay. It has not got the charm of an old traditional village as most of the local amenities has disappeared. Having said that the village is determindely trying to regroup and bring back the local shops and community centre. Keep trying - Portballintrae is well worth visiting.
