River Leven, Argyll

River Leven
The River Leven is a 7 mile long river located in West Dunbartonshire,
Scotland. Beginning from Loch Lomond the river flows South through the
Vale of Leven to the River Clyde. It is the second fastest flowing
river in Scotland. Populated by sea trout, brown trout, pike, perch
and the occasional salmon, the River Leven is a popular location for
fishing. There is a cycle path and pedestrian footpath that runs along
the west bank of the river and several bridges along its course. The
River Leven gets it name from the Gaelic word for ‘Elm Ban’k and was
once navigated by steamers on the way to Loch Lomond.
