The Brecks, Norfolk | Suffolk
The Brecks are a large rural feature spanning almost 370 square miles
across the counties of Norfolk and Suffolk, England. The Brecks
contain large areas of heathlands, wetlands, and dry lands of flint
and sand. They also host the largest lowland pine woodlands in the
United Kingdom, consisting mainly of Scots Pine. The Brecks are one of
the driest areas in England and are home to a vast array of wildlife,
including adders, copper butterflies, stone curlews and nightjars.
There are four National Nature Reserves situated within the Brecks,
and fifty-six Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).
