for Mount Edgcumbe Military History Weekend as your favourite British event.

If you're mad about motors or military history you're in for a treat as the Military Vehicle Trust and South West Battle Group return to Mount Edgcumbe to set up camp for their annual event.

Open daily over the bank holiday weekend, this free event will give families a glimpse back in time with re-enactments, displays and live entertainment.

Military vehicles from World War Two through to the present day will be on show and there will be a re-enactment from the 1940s. For the first time there will also be battle re-enactments from the Falklands War and World War Two on the green below the ice house, with real pyrotechnic explosives used by the army during training.

Displays will include an army field kitchen that can cater for around 200 personnel in the field, a medical tent with equipment from World War Two, a French Resistance tent and weapons displays featuring revolvers and rifles up to heavy machine guns.

There will be a stage with live entertainment featuring sing-along wartime tunes from the likes of Vera Lynn, Anne Shelton, Gracie Fields and the Glenn Miller Band. Admission to the event, which runs from 11am to 4pm, is free and both the Orangery Restaurant and Stables Café will be open.

Mike Sculthorpe-Wright of the South West Battle Group said: "It's great to host our prime event in the fantastic grounds of Mount Edgcumbe Park and display the battle group's activities in our home county. We look forward to offering interesting and educational displays to the public and in particular giving young people to experience a taste of World War Two after studying it at school."
