The first Regatta was run on Tuesday 7th August 1792 between 26 boats from
Whitstable and Faversham to test the boating skills of the local boatmen and
sailors. It has taken place every year since with the exception of the two
world wars. It is possibly the oldest event of it type in the world.
Tankerton slopes, Whitstable, Kent. Organised by Whitstable & Herne Bay Lions Club, for more details phone: 01227 274313.
