Bedfordshire’s festival of wood - bigger, better, louder! Now in its 5th year, the Forest of Marston Vale’s Woodworks! Festival! brings together artists, crafts people, growers, woodland managers, tree surgeons, musicians, story tellers and enthusiasts for a weekend of woodland inspired fun, music and activity. “Woodworks is a really unique occasion with plenty for all the family to see and do,” said Guy Lambourne, Forest of Marston Vale. “Each year, this annual celebration of trees and woodlands grows bigger, better and, with lumberjacks, chain saw carvers and musicians - noisier! We were delighted that over 5,000 visitors came along to last year’s event - it’s a great way to get people talking about trees and woodlands and to discover how trees are a vital part of a healthy future too.” Visitors can have a go at traditional woodland crafts; discover the art of forest management from traditional horse logging to the use of the latest machinery; ‘have-a-go’ at archery; find out about green energy and wood fuel, and browse an array of stalls selling arts, crafts, furniture, tools and local produce. There’s also story-telling, kids craft activities, a Victorian helter-skelter and swingboats, a beer tent and local produce, food and drink. To add to the summer festival feel, visitors can enjoy a programme of live, folk roots music with bands including The Churchfitters, Ben and Joe Broughton and Colvin Quarmby. The event takes place on Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th September 2007 at the Forest Centre & Millennium Country Park, Marston Moretaine, Bedfordshire from 11am – 5pm. Visit www.marstonvale.org/woodworks for more information. Entrance to Woodworks Adults - £5.00; concessions - £3.00; children under 16 – free. Free use of car park.
