Born 1660. Died 1753 - British physician and naturalist.

Studied in London and France. Physician to the governor of Jamaica (1685-86). Collected a herbarium of 800 species. Founded the Chelsea Physic Garden in 1721. Best work was Natural History of Jamaica (1707-25).
