Born 1804.  Died 1892 - English zoologist and palaeontologist.
Eminent zoologist of Victorian England, published 400 scientific papers and many books including British Fossil Mammals and Birds (1846) and A History of British Fossil Reptiles (1849-84).  Played important role in establishing the now Natural History Museum.  Named and constructed many well known fossils.  Coined the term “dinosaur” (terrible lizard).  Accepted knighthood in 1884.
