Born 1926. Died 1984 - English comedian.

Originally John Eric Bartholomew. Appeared in working men’s club at aged of 11. Teamed up with Ernie Wise in 1941 in touring stage show Youth Takes a Bow. Worked in music hall, summer shows, pantomimes, radio, films and television. Best known for The Morecambe and Wise Show (1961-83). Pair’s autobiography Eric and Ernie published in 1973.
