Born 1927 - British developmental biologist and geneticist.

Best known for her work in reproductive biology, developmental biology, embryology, genetics and immunology. Predicted the technique now known as in-vitro cloning. First woman to serve as officer of Royal Society. Elected FRS in 1975, receiving its gold medal in 1990. Created DBE in 1990.
