Born 1892. Died 1978 - Scottish poet.
Pseudonym of Christopher Murray Grieve. Served with Medical Corps in WWI and munitions officer in WWII. Founder member of National Party of Scotland, stood as Communist candidate in 1964. Dedicated his life to regeneration of Scots as a literary language. Best known for poem A Drunk Man Looks at the Thistle (1926). Also wrote essays and autobiographies.
