Born 1921 - 2008 English jazz trumpeter and bandleader.

Taught himself to play cornet. After WWII played trumpet with George Webb’s Dixielanders. Formed own band in 1948. Founded own record label Calligraph in 1984, recorded with Acker Bilk in 1992. Also known as jazz broadcaster and writer and host of radio panel show I’m Sorry I Haven’t a Clue (1972-).
