Born 1883.  Died 1952 - Scottish shipbuilder.
Educated at Glasgow Academy and Paris.  Jointly owned family engineering firm in Port Glasgow.  Established an empire with interests in coal, iron and steel, marine engineering, ship-owning and shipbuilding.  Formed the Scottish National Economic Development Council.  Regarded as one of Scotland’s industrialists.
