Born 1968 - Journalist, broadcaster and former English cricketer.

Studied History at Downing College, Cambridge. Made his debut for Lancashire County Cricket Club in 1987. Made his debut for England against Australia at Trent Bridge in 1989 scoring 0 and 47. Played in 115 test matches (captain for 54 matches) at an average of 37.69. A chronic back condition forced him to retire at the end of the 2001 Ashes. Has since worked in the media as cricket correspondent for The Times, a member of the Channel 4 and Sky Sports commentary teams and a commentator for BBC Radio.
