Charles Simeon
- Favourite Briton.

Born in Reading, Berkshire
Born on 24th of September 1759
Died on 13rd of November 1836

Simeon was educated at Eton and at King’s Cambridge, where he became a fellow. As a preacher (he was given the living of Holy Trinity, Cambridge) he aroused much antipathy initially for his evangelical approach, but quickly gained celebrity for that style. Although he never held high office in the church Simeon was very influential as a leader of the evangelical wing of the church, one of the founders of the Church Missionary Society, and the writer of sermons and sermon outlines some of which continue to be used today.
