Peter Shore
- Favourite Briton.

Born in Liverpool, Merseyside
Born on 20th of May 1924
Died in Dover, Kent
Died on 24th of September 2001

Shore, born in Great Yarmouth and educated at Quarry Bank Grammar School in Liverpool and at Cambridge (where he was a member of The Apostles), had two major strands to his political life within the Labour Party: nationalism and state control of the economy. His nationalism saw Shore oppose Britain’s entry to the EEC, and then push for withdrawal from that body; and shift from an anti-nuclear stance to a belief in retaining Britain’s nuclear deterrent. His economic views were in part linked to that nationalism, the EEC seen as removing economic control from the UK government. Shore held several ministerial positions, and played significant roles in setting Labour Party policy, but as his poor showing in two leadership contests revealed he was never one of the real movers of his era.
