Paul Scott
- Favourite Briton.

Born in Southgate, London
Born on 25th of March 1920
Died on 1st of March 1978

Paul Scott worked in the world of publishing long before he became a well-known author himself, firstly as an accountant then as director of a literary agency. He had been conscripted into the army in 1940 as a private, ending as a captain, with the most significant part of his service spent in India. It was India that provided the subject matter and setting for his most famous novels, The Raj Quartet (filmed under the title of its first book The Jewel in the Crown), and Staying On, that latter winning the booker Prize.
