Willie Rushton
- Favourite Briton.

Born in Chelsea, London
Born on 18th of August 1937
Died in Kensington, London
Died on 11th of December 1996

Willie Rushton, unlike the majority of his friends from Shrewsbury School, did not go to Oxbridge (persistent failure at his maths GCSE to blame), but his consequent national service as a private, and period as a bored solicitor’s clerk helped prepare him for his career as a satirist, cartoonist, and wit. He co-founded Private Eye, became an occasional (delightfully) comic actor in films including Monte Carlo or Bust, and deserves a place in our national comic Pantheon for his many glorious years on I’m Sorry I Haven’t a Clue.
