BOOK SHOREDITCH HOTELS

James Parkinson
- Favourite Briton.

Born in Shoreditch, London
Born on 11th of April 1755
Died on 21st of December 1824

Parkinson was a fascinating and gifted man whose main drive seems to have been improving the lot of other people, particularly the dispossessed. He was a radical political thinker and writer in his younger days, though today we would not think (it is hoped) that demanding popular representation in Parliament was too revolutionary. As a physician he became an expert on gout and appendicitis, but his fame largely rests on the fact he was the first to describe what was later named Parkinson’s Disease. He also became a geologist and palaeontologist of some note.
