John Nott
- Favourite Briton.

Born in Bideford, Devon
Born on 1st of February 1932
Died in 000

John Nott served as a Gurkha officer before reading law and economics at Cambridge. He was elected as MP for St Ives in the 1960s, coming to national prominence as Secretary of State for Defence from 1981 to 1983. The cuts in naval expenditure he introduced were seen by some as one of the factors that emboldened the Argentine junta to invade the Falklands in 1982. He offered to resign when that invasion occurred, but was refused, and oversaw the campaign that retook the territory. He left Parliament in 1983 and became chairman of merchant bank Lazard Brothers.
