John Minton
- Favourite Briton.

Born in Cambridge, Cambridgeshire
Born on 25th of December 1917
Died on 20th of January 1957

Minton was an artist and designer, and perhaps most notably a book illustrator. His paintings included some on a huge scale. Minton designed wallpapers and textiles, and worked on costume and scenic design for the theatre. As a book illustrator his drawings for Elizabeth David’s first two books added hugely to their charm. As a figurative artist he struggled to comprehend the then inexorable rise of the abstract movement. He committed suicide in 1957.
