James VI
- Favourite Briton.

Born in Edinburgh, Edinburgh and the Lothians
Born on 19th of June 1566
Died on 27th of March 1625

Born 1566. Died 1625 - King of Scotland and of England.

Son of Mary Queen of Scots. Became King of Scotland, James VI, in 1567 after mother’s forced abdication. On death of Elizabeth I, 1603, he became James I of England. At first well received but his friendship with Spain, use of court favourites and resentment of his high-church stance led to strain between the Crown and Parliament. However widely recognised as one of the most successful kings of Scotland.
