Thomas Letts
- Favourite Briton.

Born in Stockwell, London
Born in 1803
Died in 1873

Thomas Letts popularised and commercialised the diary. His father’s stationery company initiated the idea with a single version in 1816. Thomas added many more, of different sizes, desk versions, pocket versions, and for specific professions or uses, and by 1839, four years after he took control of the company there were 28 in his range. They became a part of Victorian literary and commercial life, and remain a well-known British product to this day.
