Tom Keating
- Favourite Briton.

Born in Lewisham, London
Born on 1st of March 1917
Died on 12th of February 1984

Keating is often characterised as an art forger, but this is at the very least incorrect in spirit. He was an art restorer and amateur painter who came to loathe the gallery system dominated by the emperor’s avant garde clothes and those owners and experts who ruled the market to their own considerable benefit. He hit back against this by painting in the style of major artists, though incorporating anachronisms, using modern materials, and hiding clues behind images for the fun of it, and to protect against future prosecution. When finally discovered ill-health kept him out of court. Somewhat ironically his paintings, forgeries and originals, have become sought-after and valuable in their own right.
